Being a first time mom, I had no clue what bottle system to get. I heard Avent was good, so we got Avent everything - bottles, pacifiers, and even the pump. It was considerably cheaper than Medela and heck, it fit the bottles we already had so it was worth a shot. LOVE this pump (I have not used any others, so I may be partial). Yes, it has it's slight setbacks but even those are miniscule...top heaviness (that can be remedied by using the discs) and extra milk getting stuck in the top part (that can be poured into the bottle when finished). I have been exclusively pumping since our daughter was 4 days old, so if I do the math, so far I've used this pump well over 1,100 times and for over 375 hours (yikes!). I've used it at home, work, and in the car. Since I was exclusively pumping, I needed to have a car option and fell into a little trouble trying to figure that out because at the time the car adapter was backordered. I ended up buying a general outlet/car adapter here on Amazon and it works like a charm (and can be used for anything electrical).

I have not noticed any decrease in suction and personally love the inserts, I've tried it both with them and without, and with is definitely more comfortable. The memory control is awesome as opposed to having to mess with dials. I did recently have issues with it becoming louder and even stop working at one point and thought it was getting past it's prime. At the time I had been keeping it in the handy tote bag every time I pumped and we figured out that it must have been overheating because once I removed it from the bag, I've had zero issues. Oh and by the way, we've had no leaky bottle issues and practically all our bottles have the ring inserts. Just make sure you get the nipple all the way tightened.

I give five stars because even with the tiny issues that have come up, I absolutely love this pump and would totally recommend it.

I read a lot of reviews for both the Philips Avent electric pump and the Medela pumps before I gave birth and remembered that because there were such good reviews for BOTH, I went for Philips as it was less expensive. My only experience with another pump was the Medela Symphony when I was at the hospital, and felt that the Philips Avent was just as efficient as the hospital grade pump.

Pros:
- Looks great and is quite light
- As quiet as any pump you can get, did not wake my baby who is quite a light sleeper when I was pumping in the same room
- Electric memory is a wonderful feature

Cons:
- Cleaning was a little annoying at first because of the different parts (compared to the Medela) but I got used to it and really didn't mind it after that
- Petal massage cushions were unnecessary - Did not use them after the second time and it was much more comfortable and one less part to clean

Other points:
- For those of you who are thinking why twin versus the single pump. I received a tip from a friend who said that if you pumped both breasts at the same time, you will get more milk than if you were pumping one at a time (which was what I was doing so that I could hold a book or iphone in one hand). This was very true for me.
- I really liked the AVENT bottles as well, so this might contribute to the positive feedback of this pump.

Initially I bought this pump because it was part of a good, integrated milk storage/feeding system (pump directly to bottles used to feed and store, etc. I used the pump for about three months before encountering issues - the pump stopped powering on. This has nothing to do with the valves as some reviews note, its electrical. However, when it "died" I called Philips AVENT customer service (their toll-free number was very easy to find online) and they overnight-shipped a new pump to me, no problem. Because of the timing (it was on a Saturday) the pump didn't come until Tuesday, during which time I borrowed a friend's Medela pump, which gave me a chance to compare. I was so glad to have my AVENT back, it is so much easier to clean and operate! The few issues people note about leaks can be avoided if you follow the instructions to assemble the pump body wet, however the design could be improved to make it stand upright on its own and to seal better to the bottles, the way the collars/caps do. The washable components are bigger than the Medela parts, but far easier to clean and SEE that you have them clean. The let-down petals are also much more comfortable and less prone to dripping when you finish pumping than the Medela flanges.

Overall, even with the failure and replacement I would recommend the AVENT pump (and its easy-to-use bottle system) over the Medela immediately. All pumps have some complaints, and I found this to be the best feasible. Its also far cheaper!
