I have had the G-Luxe since May and this past weekend, the stroller collapsed while we were out walking in the park, the mechanism to keep the stroller open is flawed. When I did a search online about this, Uppa baby has a "retrieval" in place for this issue, but no recall. Because they did not issue an official recall, you will not find this information on recall lists and many retailers are unaware of the problem. f you own a g-series stroller, check out their website to see if you are part of the retrieval.

Besides the fact that stroller is UNSAFE, I find it to be much less convenient than the McClaren. You need 2 hands to fold it, It does not fold as compactly, the white on the seat gets dirty and it generally feels less sturdy.

We looked at a number of umbrella strollers and I saw the uppa baby g-luxe 2010 model in a store. I liked it except it didn't seem to have enough padding, the straps were not that adjustable and when the stroller was folded the wheels hit the underside of the sun shade. Looked around some more and then decided to go with the uppa baby g-luxe 2011 model. They added an extra removable pad that you can wash and it also provides really nice padding for your child. They also fixed the adjustable straps so they extend to a lot longer length now. The stroller I got folds very nicely and the wheels do not hit the underside of the sun shade on this model. The stroller will stand up while folded as long as you remember to lock the wheels. When I forget it falls right over. I am using this for my 2 year old son. The ride is very smooth and the sun shade is awesome. Although teal is not my favorite color I got it because it has a lighter gray canopy and white sides and I liked that better for being out in the sun during the summer instead of a dark black canopy which I've seen on many other umbrella strollers. This stroller also has a cup holder that actually works well and a shoulder strap to make carrying easier.

UPDATE:
We called Uppababy and they sent us a new stroller right away. The frame seems slightly sturdier and so far so good. The only difference that I noticed was that the back fabric was now orange instead of white and the orange color was a bit louder than the previous version. Overall very happy with the stroller again.
I was impressed with Uppababy's customer service: everyone I interacted with (by phone and by email) was friendly, quick and effective. They actually give you their name and you get an assigned customer service person that follows-up with you. So refreshing!

PREVIOUS REVIEW:
We absolutely loved this stroller until the aluminum frame snapped in two! The screws that hold the fabric and the harness are drilled right into the aluminum tubing and I believe this is what structurally weakens it. While we did use the stroller every day, this seems to be a product defect and not due to any out-of-the-ordinary use. The stroller is only 4 month-old and shouldn't be breaking so early on! I now see another amazon customer had their stroller break in the exact same place.

We are lucky this happened (or that we noticed it) while our baby was NOT in the stroller as this has the potential to be very dangerous.

I posted images of the broken frame/ tube in the product images for reference (now on page 2).

We have contacted Uppababy and will update this review once we hear back.
